Noah’s Ark Tea Party 2009

I had an awesome weekend shooting at the Noah’s Ark fund raising tea party over at Nyee Phoe Flower Garden. Below are just some of the many dogs (and people)I met that day

Dogathon 2009

I had the pleasure of covering Dogathon 09 organized by the Rotary Club of Tanglin. What more could you ask for than a warm sunny day with lots and lots of dogs? This was not just a walk for fun though as the benefits were going towards Noah’s Ark CARES .

Noah’s Ark 2010 Calendars now for sale!

You can now order your 2010 calendars by visiting their blog!

A short except from their blog is as follows:

“This year, the dogs and cats under Noah’s Ark CARES sterilisation programmes are featured. Besides the 12 animals featured, we hope that you do not forget about the 800 dogs, 400 cats and 5 horses at Noah’s Ark that the calendar sales support! Every animal that is living both on our farm and our homes is unique and has a history of its own.”

Each calendar costs only $10 and all proceeds go towards the upkeep of the animals over at Noahs Ark as well as to fund the various sterlisation programmes they have.

I am extremely proud to be involved with this project and am really excited to finally see it in print! So excited that I have decided to give away 3 copies.

Heres how it is going to work:

Noah’s Ark Visit

Since about 2006 I have been helping out with Noah’s Ark CARES as their photographer. I can safely say that with all the projects that I have helped them on since then they have greatly helped me improve my photography. The biggest project every year has always been their calendars which help raise quite a large sum of money needed by them to keep the 800+dogs and 400+ cats well fed and taken care of. Yes I said 800+ dogs and 400+ cats.

With last years calendar proving to be quite a hit I was under ALOT of pressure to deliver similar results again this year as they upped the printing quota in anticipation of hopefully repeated sales. The good news was that they did most of the admin work for me and all I had to do was shoot the ’stars’. One of the sessions involved me being driven across the causeway to Pekan Nanas in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. I had a great time up in the place, being surrounded by so many dogs (think 40) at once is truly something you have to experience first hand to appreciate. Without further ado, on with the pictures!

Of course there were cats (this sweetie is Ms. February) curious as ever

But as always I was drawn back to the dogs..

And the people who work to keep them fed and healthy..

Valentines with Holly part 2

Valentines with Holly part 1

Last week I had the pleasure of covering another dog party over Valentine’s Day for an adorable dachie called Holly. As her mom is a dedicated volunteer of Noah’s Ark CARES , she requested that all presents be made as donations to the organization so guests could have fun and do a good deed too What her mom was not aware of though was that her friends had contacted me also and were planning on giving her a surprise present and asked me to do an album for her and her dogs.

I’m happy to report she was clueless until we sprung it on her The rest of this blog will be dedicated to the other furry happenings at the party

Picture intensive so click the link below for the full post. It was a very hot day but the dogs certainly had a fun time socializing and sniffing around! I rented a 35/1.4 for the event just too see if its suitable for my shooting style (and to fully utilize the full frame sensor!) Here are quick snaps of some of the guests whom you might recognize from an earlier post

One special guest was a dog called Batman who is born with a nervous disorder that leaves him more or less unable to coordinate his limb movement. The end result is that he moves around by wiggling his body around. His mom took care of him as a puppy and he is now 4. Tremendous amount of dedication there.

Here we have Goldie a very senoir dog who is almost blind. He still manged to have some fun though he liked to stake out the water bowl

And here he is demonstrating the wonderful bokeh of the 35/1.4 @1.8

And whats a party without food? Here is the spread of food for the dogs(except the cupcakes at the top) kindly sponsored by US Doggie Bakery. They specialize in making human-type food thats safe for your dogs to eat. Its also probably wayy healthier than commercial kibble since there are no preservatives or additives.

And of course a pink cake for the birthday girl

As you can see holly’s mom was so not expecting the double celebration.

That lady feeding holly happens to be the boss of US Doggie Bakery Holly is just interesting in that biscuit..
