    National Dog Walk 2010

    Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

The day didn’t begin very well with me waking up to a moderate drizzle, nonetheless it’s hard to keep me away from all those dogs who were going to be at the National Dog Walk 2010. I only stayed for the morning programe though, as I was going out for another event after lunch. Still, it was more than enough time to meet many new furry friends!

First up Rosie the therapy dog.

Then there was Ubin the dog whose foot was trapped in a boar trap. Sadly it had to be amputated but he has bounced back tremendously! Rescued and now in a loving home!

Cookie and Baloo and adorable duo.

Of course some dogs choose not to walk..

    but to talk instead :D

Ozzy looking good with her new shoes..and who can resist a pug?

The dogs seemed to have a great time there depsite the rain early on. To see more you can check out the flickr album

    Delphi, Rotty and Gong-Gong

    Thursday, August 19th, 2010

More adoptable are looking for homes over at Mutts n Mittens!

First up is Rotty who was abandoned and found she was very friendly and playful but will need proper training to make sure she behaves properly.

A little bit of abstract rottie :D

She was quite interested in the lens at first but quickly got bored of it. Still she is quite a poser too :)

Next up a mastiff called Gong-Gong(means slow-witted). While he does look like his name he is no slouch on the love department :D

Who can resist that smooshed and silly face :D

Still he can look dignified if required.

But of course he really is just a big goof ball eh?

And now sweet Delphi. The first thing she does is flop down and ask for belly rubs..

And if you stop she will ask for more in her special way..

Its hard to say no to her :D Especially when she does her Corgi imitation

After you rub her belly long enough she will go into a that natural dog high..

Finally managed to get her to sit up for her money shot :)

Hope she finds a forever home soon!

    Of Puppy Mills

    Monday, April 26th, 2010

I’m sure many of you in Singapore are quite aware of the 75 dogs abandoned from the puppy mill and the kind souls who have banded together to help nurse them back to health and rehome them. They are still looking for volunteers and donations. More information on how you can help over here.

While it is easy to do a google search for “puppy mill’ and read and see all the horrors that dogs are put though just for commercial gains, nothing hits harder then when you actually see it for yourself.

I will be dedicating a separate blog post on my experiences there but for now I will share one image that I think summarizes it quite well.

Meet Opera, just one of the 75 dogs who lived though the hell of a puppy mill. In her eyes, you can see sadness and pain of the years she endured in there and at the same time a glimmer of hopeful optimism. Hope that she will not have to endure being a living breeding machine. Hope that maybe someday she can finally live her life as a dog should.
