    Grumpy, Droopy, Dippy and Muffin

    Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

I had the chance to meet this lovely gang of four a couple of Saturdays ago. This being my first shoot with Shar Pei’s I was warned that they would tend to ignore me most of the time! Also I read some where that they tend to make good guard dogs. So you can imagine how I felt a little when I rang the bell and saw this bunch barking excitedly at me from the balcony.

Looks like they mean serious business eh? Lucky for me they were just softies inside.. we started by warming up indoors. Left to right – Grumpy, Dippy, Muffin and Droopy

Given how they were food motivated the following two shots will give you an idea of how I worked with “Mommy J” to get them in place :D And I must say for a ChowChow Muffin does a mean ballet pose

Muffin was most willing to post.. provided you had something of interest to him

Getting them to pose together did prove quite a challenge..

With many outtakes resulting .. decided to keep this one though :D Thats Dippy and Grumpy.

I was kinda hard to tell them apart but Dippy on the left is the only female and Droopy on the right is the biggest of the lot :D

And of course there was Grumpy with his slightly lop sided jowls :)

He also had this “look” which I cannot really put to words..

Soon after they did get tired of posing..

After that last picture I figured they had had enough of me for one day :) Thanks J for the wonderful time spent with your furry pals!

    MuttsNMittens – Master Chow

    Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Its been quite awhile since I had the time to head down over to MuttsNMittens to help photograph some adoptable. I decided to have a session with the very furry Master Chow. He was much neglected as a breeding dog and was subsequently rescued with his mom (who has since found a new home!) He is still pretty shy around people(especially males)  still which is not surprising given how much he was abused. Its amazing how much better he is now thanks to the efforts and care of the shelter staff and volunteers.  When he arrived he was malnourished and had almost no fur on him, but now…

He definitely recovered well and saved from that awful breeder, live life as a dog should :D

Of course the trademark of a chow is thier purple tongue!

If you think you have the heart and patience to give him a forever home, do drop by MuttsNMittens to arrange for a viewing session!
