Weekend shoot: Changi Beach Park

I had a fun shoot last weekend with 5 adorable dogs While I must admit that I am a big dog person, small dogs seem to cram all the energy and personality of a big dog into a more compact package

First up was a grand old dame Dene who had to stay indoors due to her old age. Still game to try and pose a little

Next up was Goro..

Who has a lovely head profile

Next up we have the trio of Shasha , Muffin and Miki!

Miki is getting on in years and cannot see very well but still loves hangin out outdoors with her friends

Still plenty of life in her yet

Muffin was a little skittish at first but warmed up quickly..

She really knows how to strike a pose too!

Undoubtedly the star for that day was Shasha.

She does have this thing for badminton shuttlecocks though..

Like really really likes them

She is also learning from Muffin on how to work that look

Jester and Junior – Sengkang

I met these two lovely schnauzers at Sengkang riverside park a two weekends back. This was my first shoot at the park and we were blessed with a lovely sunny morning to have some fun with!

We began with romping around the large empty field. Most people wont wake up this early on a Saturday, snooze and you lose the morning light!

Once they were more settled down from all the excitement it was a little easier for them to keep still for longer than 1/250th sec

Junior@ Hort Park

Junior’s shoot was actually scheduled on the 4th but we were rained out. Turns out it was a good thing as the rescheduled shoot turned out to be a fabulous day with light cloud cover Meeting him for the first time he looked like any happy, young and energetic shi tzu. I was right on two of those counts, turns out he was already 10. I seriously could not believe it from looking at how alert and sprightly he was. Let the pictures do the talking

How did he stay so young? Maybe from all the love showered on him by his mom (and grandma).

He still manages to look good even while acting goofy.

Here he is trying to give a ‘paw’ to him mom. I think at this point he was kinda tired. I love how he still tried though

I had the pleasure of covering the birthday party celebrations for Coco, Prince and Trixie, 3 lovely shelties belonging to Jazzmine of APAWZ It was a little crazy with the large number of shelties in the place and I guess only the ‘parents’ would have been able to recognize thier own kids I certianly had a hard time differentiating them through the viewfinder. Lucky for me my job was made easier by Jazz cause the 2 birthday girls had the prettiest collars! Heres coco in her birthday best

And of course whats a birthday without a cake? Durian based cream that was totally dog friendly!

Max: Its’ A Dog’s Life

Turns out that it can be a pretty good life if you are a dog, certainly helps if your ‘parents’ love you to bits too

Max’s shoot was postponed about 3 times due to a combination of unpredictable weather and the extremely busy schedules of his parents who only could make it at specific times. On the day where it finally cleared up a little for us to shoot at the Botanical Gardens, it decided to rain about 1 hour into it cutting our time there a little short. Moving back to his house was not a bad idea though as there were many interesting locations about the house.

We started the day in the lush open fields of the Botanical Gardens with some cloud cover which soon progressed into a drizzle. Not before I got Max all nice and worked up for a few action shots.

On the drive back to his territory he promptly zonked out and changed the CD track to “Home by Micheal Buble”. Might not be a co-incidence heh..

We then went up to his room. He has the most awesome ‘bed’ which was recycled from an old office chair I believe.

Soon we moved on to the couch outside…he can be quite a goofball at times too..

Max, Teaser

Apologies for the lack of activity on this place but its been a crazy few weeks with all the projects and deadlines. Here is a quick teaser for an absolutely fun session I had with Max whose shoot was post-poned 3 times due to the weather! The wait was definately worth it though and it was loads of fun shooting him.

I had a very fun photo shoot with Pebbie last weekend. This shoot has 2 firsts for me, its shot at a new location and its the first one with my ‘new’ (third hand =p ) 5D. The park has nice open fields and the evening sun was quite cooperative for the most part. Pebbie was also quite the poser so long as theres either food or a secret weapon (more on that later) I hope that her parents enjoyed their time as much as I did photographing her.

Cocker Spaniels have thier tails docked but hers was cut a little too much and well her butt literally wiggles since theres no stump to wag.. Not that I was staring at her handquaters…

After all that acitvity she finally showed some signs of tiring out

And finally the proper portraits. The 85/1.8 is simply stunning on a 5D. Am am itching to try out a 135/2 soon though

And the money shot (IMO) and personal fav of the session. It was a close tie between this and the Nose one.

Cookie(s)! Cookie is quite an unusual looking chihuahua. Due to her long ears she often gets mistaken for a Papillon! She was very friendly and spent quite a bit of time checking out my camera bag due to the many dozens of scents it has picked up over my many shoots

We started the session walking around the block a little but Cookie was more of an indoor kinda dog so we didn’t walk around that long. Managed to get a nice headshot of her though.

Once back home she quickly warmed up

New year greetings to all

I had a very fun session with Dodo and MoMo last Saturday. Hope that their owners did’nt end up too tired after that shoot as they had to leave for a lunch gathering soon after.

The 2 girls were quite active and loved to explore though Dodo was a little more reserved while her firend Momo was much more adveerous. Still they did appear to have lots and lots of energy which showed when we let them loose in the run.

We went indoors a little later to escape the heat and tried some shots on the couch. Lucky Dodo has a health shiny coat that helped her stand out from the black couch well View the b/w version at this link

Xiao Wei

My shoot with Xiao Wei was initially scheduled for the 14th but had to be pushed to the 21st due to heavy rain. It proved to be a blessing as the weather that day was dry with a good late afternoon sun

She followed her nose most of the time as most beagles do but we had treats on hand to help guide that nose along.
