    MnM: Tasha, Holly and Emma

    Friday, February 1st, 2013

There are many reasons not to buy pets from pet shops and one of the main reasons are Puppy Mills. While you might coo over how cute that puppy/kitten looks, you never know just what the parents of that puppy/kitten had to go through. The three ladies featured here today were rescued from that sad fate as breeding dogs and have since been re-rehabilitated .

First up is the very manja Tasha who is described as a “triple choc muffin with butterscotch swirls” . Loves to sit by your side and always eager for attention. I did have some trouble taking pics of her as she always wanted to be close by!

    Act shy only!

Then there is the dynamic duo of Holly and Emma, Despite having only two good eyes between them, they still know how to love and play. Its very amusing to watch them have a go at playing “tag” with each other.

    Almost a Ceberus these two

Emma is the one with the bad eye but still knows how to wink and laugh. She is about 7 this year and is still looking for a home!

And Holly just has that perpetually happy face.

    Portrait: Kiki, Kei and Stitch

    Sunday, November 11th, 2012

Nicole, the mommy of these three had been wanted to do a session since forever and e finally managed to set a date only in November! A short story on why its important to read the map or scout parking spots before hand: This was the first time for either of us to drive to the park (I had walked there before) and it was only upon reaching did we realise that it was a 10 minute walk to the shoot location. I gave her a quick buzz telling her I might be late, turns out she had also just arrived and was walking too.

It was a blast shooting the three with the matriarch of the group Kiki more or less in her own world, and Kei and Stitch being over so sociable and food motivated :) As always we start with a little energy burning, yes even for the mom…

Then it was the old girl Kiki’s turn. She had much energy left in her !

How do we get these running shots? Well maybe these two pictures from Stitch’s attempt will help clear things up.

And of course I had to try getting up close to capture those crazy faces

We wanted to move on to another part of the park for the ” sit still and look pretty” part of the session but Stitch and Kei had other plans

After they were properly tired though they still had the energy to pose so nicely. Kiki the grand old lady

    Playful Kei

And finally the sociable Stitch. While his coat patterns and eye colours are very striking, he looks even better in black and white IMO.

And finally all three together with help from the mom making some weird noises I have never heard before. I might incorporate that into my next shoot ;)

… Stich was well and truly tired towards the end of the shoot though.

But we managed one last shot of the two sausages.

Seems like short-legged dogs do have more fun eh?

    Sentosa Shoot: Bobby

    Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

Bobby recently won a contest called “You’re family too”  by a magazine called VegVibe , a lifestyle magazine for Vegetarians. Here is a short excerpt from his contest entry “For the first 5 years of Bobby’s life, he was passed around like a toy. (Owner >> SPCA >> someone took him from SPCA.. before he came to us) He wasn’t allowed in the house and wasn’t given his daily walk. Despite all these, he is still extremely trusting towards humans (can’t say the same for big dogs). He is the greediest Shih Tzu ever, and he eats anything and everything.”

That last bit proved quite useful during the shoot as his “Mom” told me he would much prefer to laze around the beach if there was no food involved. True enough we started with some stationary shots to get him warmed up..

He does look quite dashing in that hat though he has other thoughts about that…

Then to perk him up, it was time to break out the cheese :D

Even got him to run a little :D

Once he took to the sea though he was quite different.. he did shrink by about 50% :D

He also liked chaing his little lamb around, but after one failed attempt to grab it, he ended up with a mouthful of sand and quickly lost interest..

We ended off with  a large family photo of Bobby and his friends :)

Congrats again on winning the contest :D
