Basement Cat: Misty

By December 14, 2010Portraits

I had plenty of fun shooting this friendly basement cat. I’ve always been a little nervous about cat shoots as shy cats are a real challenge. Misty was a little wary of me when I came in but after I sat my bag down and chatted a little with her parents, her natural curiosity took over and she was sniffing my bag. Pretty soon she approached my hands and was curious about the lenses and camera I had laid out as well. Then her parents mentioned something that took me quite by surprise: “She can do tricks”.

It turns out Misty here has been clicker trained to follow a target stick and can perform behaviors like “sit” “lie down” and “high five” all of which she demonstrated nicely ๐Ÿ™‚ This was turning out to be a hybrid between a dog and cat session ๐Ÿ˜€

Here in “huntress mode” she has this thing for toes..

And fluffy balls of tinsel

Showing off her “high-five”

And from another perspective..

Since her parents wanted this to be an X’mas shoot, they had some accessories that they wanted her to wear. She did think that red was not her colour though..

But when she did settle down.. she really worked that scarf…

That’s her little naptime buddy ๐Ÿ˜€

My absolute fav from the day.. she really owns this shot with that look and scarf!

We did try putting her in a hat but she was not too keen on that idea =p

And for the finale we did a little family shot.. with some bribing involved..

She must think her parents are weird with that stuff sticking out of their heads.

And finally a happy family portrait!

TK and Mel: hope you like the pics! And I hope Misty approves too!
